I'm proud of my history of balancing budgets for the organizations I've worked for, and as our next city councilman, I plan on bringing that same fiscal discipline to the City of Atlanta budget. Protecting homeowners rights, keeping property taxes low and defending great public services is not too much for our families and our small businesses to ask for. As our next city councilman, I plan on digging into the details, helping spotlight and eliminate inefficiencies, reducing wasteful spending, and making sure our great city provides great public services with a transparent, efficient budget each year.
To become the world-class city Atlanta is capable of, we must build on the foundation of our parks system and our transportation system. We have a good start with the Beltline and other assets, but as our next city councilman I will fight to bring more accountability and transparency in the management of our parks system, along with moving Atlanta towards more environmentally friendly, sustainable operation models.
As the son of a public school teacher, I know that a first rate school system is one of the single best things we can do to bring better companies to Atlanta, improve our property values, and make sure the future is as bright as possible for every Atlanta child. The Atlanta School Board and every Atlanta parent and child deserve an advocate and an ally in their City Council. As our next city councilman, I will fight to protect our teachers, our administrators, and be a strong voice for parents rights and local control.
We all want safer neighborhoods for our families and our businesses. That's why as our next city councilman I'll fight to make sure our police departments have the tools they need to fight crime, work hand in hand with community leaders and activists to prevent problems, and I'll work hard every single day to make Atlanta the clean, vibrant city that good businesses will want to move to, and where we'll all be proud to live.
Atlanta can and must do more to support our hardworking police officers, firefighters, EMT's and all city employees. Top notch talent requires competitive pay and benefits. As our next city councilman, I'll fight for better pay and better benefits for those putting their lives on the line for our families.
